    From the Faithful Navigator

    My Brother Sir Knights,

I assume that most of you have heard by now that Father Eric Hill, Pastor of Prince of Peace has graciously agreed to serve as the Friar of our Assembly. We are sincerely grateful and look forward to his inspiration and guidance. We also wish to extend thanks to Deacon Bill Bohn from St. Michael Catholic Church for his steadfast and faithful service in the past. Deacon Bill will substitute for Father Eric on those occasions when Father’s schedule prevents him from joining us. We are truly blessed to have clergy such as these willing to shepherd our Assembly.

    Fraternally,

    Mark Miklos, PGK
    Faithful Navigator

    Looking Back

    • There was no Assembly meeting in July. We hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer!
      • At the August Assembly meeting the Patriotic Activities Committee presented its proposal to conduct four activities in the new fraternal year. They are a visitation at the long-term care unit of the Barrow County Home for Veterans in November, 2018, Wreaths Across America at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville in December, 2018, marching in the Gainesville Memorial Day Parade on May 27, 2019, and participation in the program to retrieve unclaimed cremated remains of veterans for relocation to veterans’ cemeteries (details TBD).
    • The budget for the new fraternal year was presented to the Assembly and posted to the website for your review. The budget will be voted upon at the September business meeting.
    • Our catered dinners for the new fraternal year have been arranged with Crossroads Bar & Grille and are also posted to the website. Reminder that we now ask a $7.00 donation for meals. Drinks are still $1.00.
    • August 18 was the dedication Mass at St. John Paul II Parish in Gainesville; Archbishop Wilton Gregory presiding. Thanks to the ten Sir Knights who provided honor guard for this special celebration.
    • A funeral Mass for Mary Schneider, wife of Sir Knight Claud Schneider from St. Michael Catholic Church, was held on August 22. Five members of the honor guard participated.
